Burger King is at it again with this new commercial featuring SpongeBob SquarePants and rap star Sir Mix-a-Lot. BK’s ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky have created some great ads for Burger King but I can’t help but laugh at how funny this spot is and wonder and what they were thinking when they decided that measuring a woman’s behind wouldn’t cause an uproar. Who am I kidding this commercial is funniest thing I’ve seen in some time, I only say that because the target audience for this particular spot is not children, so as an adult I can watch this ad and laugh. Great work CP+B, BK, Sponge Bob and Sir Mix-a-Lot BUT, WHAT WERE YOU GUYS THINKING, have you all lost your minds?

I may be mistaken, but I think a different agency did this ad: Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis. They have the BK kid’s account.

Hi Tessa,
It was Crispin who did this ad.

Not funny. Stupid.
Let’s for a second think about the 5 to 10 year old crowd that is the target market for Sponge Bob. Then let’s consider them seeing the Burger King measuring a woman’s squared backside, add in to that the fact that they are dressed like tarty school girls. Was the goal of this spot to turn the Tots who love Sponge Bob on???
Are we trying to make them want Burger King kids meals because of Sponge Bob or or Sponge Butts and Boobs???
They could have been clever and instead, they decided to be crass.
The Burger King is played. The Brand is only appealing to young men that love movies such as Jackass and with that they shouldn’t even bother with a kids meal. I would blame Nickelodeon, too. However, they recently had the Pussy Cat Dolls perform for the Kids Choice Awards. So, clearly they do not care about the fragile esteems of their young female audience.
